abcMENTORS was created by Dana Yates out of a desire for better education options for her own son. After struggling in the oversized, crowded brick and mortar school, her son's ADHD challenges were preventing him from having educational success. She was very frustrated when her honor roll student was suddenly failing most classes.
Out of necessity, Dana went searching for better options. She desired a school that could provide extra-support for her son's challenging subjects. She also knew that a school with large classrooms would cause learning challenges. The few schools that met her criteria were more than $3,000 each month and were far out of financial reach. Dana saw a need for children like her own; children that did not quite fit into the "traditional" schools. abcMENTORS was born.
Online education provides parents with a real-time view of their child's educational success. Most of our parents use a free online public school such as California Virtual Academy (CAVA). abcMENTORS supplements that public education by overseeing the role of Learning Coach. Your child will be in a controlled, small ratio environment designed for learning success. We provide support, instruction, and your child will typically return home with no homework.
