Is abcMENTORS a school?
No, we are a Learning Coach company. We provide support services for students enrolled in online education. We enhance your child's learning experience by providing add-on services like one-to-one tutoring, customizing their daily learning schedule, and overseeing their education process, freeing up the parent for work or a much needed break!
Are you licensed?
Because we don't fit into any existing category, we will be licensed as a daycare provider.
Are your teachers certified?
The founder and owner is a California multiple-subject credentialed teacher. Other staff is certified as either a daycare teacher or a California credentialed teacher as well. All staff are authorized to supervise your children.
Do you perform background checks on your staff?
Yes, we adhere to daycare licensing rules and all of our staff has passed a Department of Justice background check.

Can my child still play sports?
If your child is enrolled in public online education (such as CAVA), your local school may allow your child to participate in sports. Please contact the school and tell them about your situation. Many coaches will make exceptions to allow online students on their teams.
What are the hours?
Our doors open at 7:00am and learning begins at 8:00am. We encourage children to arrive by 8, but we also understand that online education sometimes means the desire for flexibility. We will work with your family to accommodate your schedule needs whenever possible. Learning ends at 3:00pm. Extended care is available until 6:00pm at no additional charge.
Why am I paying a full month's tuition for a holiday month?
Our monthly expenses to pay our staff, our insurance, and our facility rental costs are unfortunately costs that do not go away while your child is on vacation. For this reason, the amount you pay each month is the same for full education months as it is with holiday months.
I am taking a vacation for a week and my child will not be attending the entire month. Do I still have to pay?
We wish we could discount for vacation time! We keep monitoring your child's educational progress while they are away, we will set you up with offline work so your child does not fall behind, we will fill out your "offline work" forms for your school so your child is not marked absent, and we will adjust their learning schedule to cover any gaps that were created when they return. For this reason, we cannot provide credits for vacation weeks.
Will my child have homework?
Usually, no! We say usually because there may be times when your child is out sick, is having a challenging learning day, may miss days with abcMENTORS, or other roadblocks may come up causing your child to fall behind. If the gap is not extreme, we can typically catch your child up without assigning homework. (No parents want the homework battle!) But there may be times when your child will be asked to do a little extra work at home to get back on track. We try to keep this to a minimum and this is not the norm.
